John H. Stotsenburg was born ca. 1833 in Wilmington, Delaware. Sometime before 1870, he moved to New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana to practive law. Around 1890, he retired from law and established a 1,200 acre orchard twenty-five miles north of New Albany in Clark County, Indiana. The trees produced peaches, plums, apples, quinces, and cherries.
